The agent represents information in a standard fashion and sends it directly to the appropriate component. While the performance element concerns itself with utility, the communication element will determine the worthiness of information that is sent inside the agent. The BDI model contained in each agent module relates to the elements which are most important to that module. In the performance element, there are very few to no beliefs, as it is the beliefs that will inhibit the agent of considering abandoning certain beliefs.

Thus, we fix it to d = 14. For c ≤ 6 and c ≥ 11, the expected reward in both algorithms is identical, because they converge at the same equilibrium. For 7 ≤ c ≤ 10, JESP-TPE significantly outperforms the JESP-NE, since they converge at different equilibria. In summary, our results suggest that, when the listen cost c is about half of tiger cost d, JESP-TPE is likely to outperform JESP-NE. On the other hand, when c is very small or very large, the expected rewards of both algorithms are about the same.

Therefore agents must be able to use the components of the other agents to communicate amongst one another. The environment must provide a repository that agents may utilize to encode or decode messages sent by other agents. Agents in the system are then required to register their components at the environment communication repository. While using a communication repository, an agent will have to determine whether it is best to communicate in the receptors communicative language, or to require the receiver of the message to translate the message.
